Collaboration for week for 1/18 - playing a little catch-up! :)

I’ve been really enjoying this breathwork lately, especially when I use my hands to focus while breathing—it helps keep me focused. I’ve noticed I prefer right nostril breathing over left, since it seems to have a bigger impact on my mood and energy. After doing it today, I felt more energized and powerful, which was exactly what I needed this afternoon since I was feeling pretty tired. I did feel a little lightheaded afterward, but overall, I felt recharged.

As a pregnant person, I’ve found that sitting in a chair makes it way easier for me to breathe deeply into my belly, compared to sitting cross-legged on the floor. Also, I tend to use my ring finger and thumb to close my nostrils instead of doing the Vishnu mudra. I’m not sure why, but I’ve never quite gotten the hang of that hand gesture.

When it comes to left nostril breathing, I felt calm and clear afterward, not sleepy or dreamy, which was nice. At first, putting my fingers on my third eye felt a little awkward, but once I got into it, I liked the extra focus there.

An interesting and exciting insight for me this week... I’ve been dealing with chronic sinus issues for a couple of years now, partly because of a deviated septum. I was told I should get surgery, but since I’ve been doing breathwork regularly (starting this course), I’ve noticed a huge improvement—my congestion has lessened, and it’s much easier to breathe. My family even mentioned that my voice sounds less nasally, which is a big win for me, especially during pregnancy when sinus stuff can get worse! I’m definitely planning to keep up with my practice to keep seeing results.

One more thing—insomnia is a big issue during pregnancy, especially as it gets later. I’ve found that doing breathwork geared toward sleep (the alternate nostril breathing) has really helped me rest better on the nights I practice it.
